I was humbled by the... read more passion demonstrated by those who are preventing the Rothschild giraffe from becoming extinct, and those who are rescuing young and baby orphan elephants, rearing them and then re-integrating them back into the wild.

My guide, Edwin, was knowledgeable and very pleasant company.

I believe that I was unusually lucky during the safari drive through Nairobi National Park. Amongst many other animals and birds I saw not only lion with a zebra kill but also a white rhino, walking across the road just behind our vehicle.

I would strongly recommend taking lots of water, and snacks if you are likely to get hungry during an eight hour outing. There is a café at the giraffe centre, at the beginning of the day, but nothing at all from then on. I had my water bottle, which was just about enough, but I regretted not having more water with me. Fortunately, I found the day so exciting that my appetite shut down, so I managed without even a small snack!
