After lots of research I decided to go with Perfect Wilderness for my 7-night luxury safari in Kenya and Tanzania (starting/ending in Nairobi). I had a fantastic time hiking Mount Longonot with Perfect Wilderness Tours and Safaris today. Particular thanks to my driver Victor, who provided lots of interesting insights into the places… read more we passed on the way there.
The hike itself was great. We went up and then around the rim. It was a tough hike, but the views were amazing. We also saw some Zebra and Giraffes on the way back down. I would definitely recommend!
Some suggestions for you if you are planning to take this tour:
– A decent level of fitness is required, particularly if you want to do a loop of the rim of the crater (according to my Garmin it was 11km with approx. 800m of elevation, all above 2000m). There are some quite steep, slippery and technical parts, but it is manageable if you take it slow and have a decent level of fitness.
– Make sure you pack enough food and water (I definitely did not), in reusable packaging. There is a shop at the start of the hike where you can buy water and soft drinks, but the bottles from there cannot be taken up the mountain.
– Wear sun protection (again, I forgot to pack mine and learned this lesson the hard way). There is limited shade on the hike, and the heat can increase quite quickly after a chilly start.
– Wear good grippy shoes, ideally hiking boots. I believe you can hire a walking pole at the departure point, but I did not do this so can’t confirm the pricing.

We would like to thank you very much for a completely magical safari! It surpassed all our dreams! Our guide Mr Harun was extremely competent and we saw lots of… read more animals! Over 80 lions, hunts that both ended with successful hunting results and not, the start of migration, Elephants everywhere around us, the rhino, the entire Big Five and so much more! All the excursions we booked were also fantastic, both those in Tanzania and in Kenya.
We are so grateful and have had great memories and learned a lot!

Wow! What an exciting and memorable 2-week safari Perfect Wilderness set up for myself and my wife! Thanks to Everline, she arranged a trip that exceeded our expectations. … read more She accommodated us by making changes to lodges and the itinerary with no questions asked over several months. We stayed an amazing lodges, all with beautiful rooms, gorgeous grounds and fantastic meals. Everything went off without a problem. Even when we arrived there was a mix up with our luggage with the airline and we had to wait 3 hours at the airport for the issue to be resolved. We thought our driver from Perfect Wilderness would have left, but waiting for us outside at 1:00 a.m. was Paul, our intrepid and patient driver who drive us to our hotel in Nairobi. We had perfect weather and saw not only the Big Five many times, but dozens of other species including camels! Everyone we met whether tourists like ourselves or employees at the parks, lodges or with Perfect Wilderness were helpful and friendly. Let’s not forget our driver Joel, who drove us through Kenya and was a remarkable and skillful driver. He could handle any terrain while keeping up a running commentary on the types of animals we were seeing, how to find them and even the family history of these animals! Joel was extremely knowledgeable not only of the animals, but also each National Park, the surrounding villages and the culture of Africa. His constant communication with the other drivers allowed us to see multiple lion prides, herds of elephants and even the rare white rhino. For our personal comfort, he upgraded us into a better lodge in Masai Mara, which had a huge swimming pool that only we used! Joel got us safely to the Tanzania border and was there to pick us up 4 days later to continue our safari in Kenya. In Tanzania, our driver was Mustafa. He mirrored Joel’s talents as a driver perfectly. He could manoeuvre any road, any condition in rain or shine. He also kept us informed of all the different animals and where to find them. He once drove quickly across the Serengeti and stopped abruptly a few feet from a pack of cheetahs! Mustafa was friendly, courteous and always aware of our personal safety and comfort. If you choose Perfect Wilderness as your safari company, Joel and Mustafa will take care of you thoroughly and you will have an amazing time! We toured through Lake Nakura, Lake Navisha, Masai Mara, Serengeti, Ngorongoro, Tarangire and Amboseli National Parks over 2 weeks and had the trip of our lifetime thanks to the professionalism, thoughtfulness and caring of Perfect Wilderness. Thank you Everline, Joel and Mustafa for the wonderful memories!

We had lunch at the Ol Tukai Lodge on day 2 and that was the best meal we had during our 3 weeks in East Africa. We highly recommend Perfect Wilderness! We did the 11 days, 10 nights Kenya & Tanzania Private Lodging Safari. Great price and our agent, Everline, was wonderful. Very… read more responsive and answered all of my questions before and during the trip. We had a number of snafus (covid test issues, truck breaking) which could have really hampered our safari, but she was able to handle them all. We had our own driver and truck which was nice because Everline did warn us that we should bring everything we need. There are not much chances (or items are not available) on the road. Here are my takeaways: the Kenya side of the trip was “budget”. The Tanzania side was upscale and very enjoyable (they partner with Mama Savana. Ask for Harun as a guide). I would upgrade accommodations in Kenya, especially the Masai Mara camp (Lenchada). I would upgrade to another day in Masai Mara and Serengeti. Skip Hell’s Gate, Naivasha and Lake Manyara – very little to see. I would have added Amboseli. It’s pricey, but my guides really recommended it. Bring US$. Credit card machines were always “broken” and you lose on converting money to local and then using their conversion rate back to dollars to pay your bill. Most importantly, remember to bring the Hakuna Matata attitude!! You can’t enjoy yourself if you’re sweating the small stuff.
